We compose extensively for Broadcast TV. From ‘up front’ title sequences to atmospheric underscores, we've created a rich collection of music in a remarkable range of styles.
By working closely with programme makers, we've helped shape distinctive identities for all projects we’ve worked on. These include:
Child of Our Time Flagship series for BBC1
Absolutely Animals 14 episodes, produced by Endemol Hawkshead TV for C4
Channel Hopping Bafta winning schools programme with Antoine de Caunes and Eddie Izzard. Rapido TV for C4
Kicking & Screaming Acclaimed BBC2 series on the history of football

Kicking & Screaming
Director Jean Paul Bragard asked for "timeless music, evoking glory and pain – but definitely not Hovis or Match of the Day!"
We submitted several contrasting ideas to match the Lowry style sequence. This poignant harmonica led piece, with sound design by us, won the day.
Channel Hopping
Not widely known for their schools output, a brief from Rapido boss Peter Stuart was bound to be different.
“Make the bass sound like a big, fat t*rd!”
“Steaming?”
“Yeah!” We duly obliged!
“Channel Hopping”, presented by Antoine de Caunes & Eddie Izzard went on to win a BAFTA.
Absolutely Animals
This striking title sequence involving panther and kitten immediately suggested an interplay between lead instruments.
We chose cool tenor sax for the big cat, playful harmonica for the kitten and added solo bass to crank up the anticipation before the final logo ‘hit’.
Vampire Bat
We had an open brief for this chilling story on rabies - we proposed a macabre ‘dance of the vampires’ on an eastern European sounding dulcimer.
Series editor Barbara Altounyan said “The music was perfect - we laid it in then went back and cut most of the voice over”. A compliment indeed!
Chicks
In this quirky piece, series editor Tessa Livingstone wanted humour combined with a serious underlying story on attachment & loss.
For the chicks we created a ‘scherzo’ melody on pizzicato strings; for Prof Winston’s conclusion we created a sad lament on cello.
We were reliably informed that no chicks were harmed, emotionally or physically, as a result of the shoot!
Twins!
For an over - stretched mum with twins, we needed something really hectic.
We created this track in Mambo Big Band style then turned the dynamics and tempo way up!
